Hello loyal readers
I came across this and thought it was highly interesting. The earliest recorded music in existence is a few sections of "Israel in Egypt" recorded in 1888 at the Crystal Palace in London.

The Crystal Palace
The performance took place Friday, June 29th, 1888, and consisted of an orchestra with 500 performers, and a chorus with over 4000 singers. The original recordings can be found here, or one that I've cleaned up a bit can be heard here.
